My name is Tom Pearson. I am have been a pastor for 25 years, in churches all over the country. I was a Youth Pastor for 20 of those years, and then in 2010, God called me to plant a church in rural North Florida. In the process of planting that church, God taught me more than I ever thought possible.
I was raised an Independent Baptist, ordained a Southern Baptist, I served in a Church of God, a Missionary Church and an Every Nation Church. When praying over the church plant, God led me to study the first church and to really dig into the Bible. The first thing I found is that denominations are not scriptural. One of the main themes of the New Testament is the Unity of the Body, and all denominations do is separate us, and as the Jesus said, Mark 3:24-25 “A kingdom divided by civil war will collapse. Similarly, a family splintered by feuding will fall apart.” So, it is imperative that we are united. The next thing I found is that, in many cases, the “doctrines” that separate these different denominations are misinterpreted on both sides. And, that is why, as I often say, the Bible isn’t meant to be interpreted, it must be taken literally, but you have to keep it in context…and that takes work.
As I stated in my opening blog, I don’t claim to have all of the answers, but the Bible does, so let’s look at it together.
